I took my oldest son of 7 out this morning to endure the struggles of public land, the lack of birds, zero gobbles and to walk countless miles wondering why the entire area is void of life. I wanted him to learn failure then one day success. Well, we screwed that up: heard 100+ gobbles by day break, chased 5 toms for 3 hours, got on 3 other groups, missed one then put the sneak on a large flock and whacked one at 18 yards. His first day hunting and at 11am, we hammered a 7" tom w 3/4" spurs.

Hunting with a 410 is limiting, very limiting but 1 lone pellet found it's mark. A good day for father/son.

I don't remember what I became a hunter, but I do remember when my son became one.
