So this just happened.

Hello all,

We have received formal direction from Sacramento that we are to not allow camping at any of our wildlife areas that include Wister and San Jacinto. This is a direction from the the Governor’s office through our Directors Office and NOT of our regional management. We do not have a timeline for this closure but will certainly let you all know if and when it gets lifted. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly apricated, thank you.

Not to get a mask argument going but looks like they're setting it up for a shutdown. Might be a good idea to wear them at the check station while checking in or out so they, at least, don't have that excuse.

This should clarify some questions.

Hi Matt,

This is a challenging and evolving issue. As of now the Department has issued this statement;

“This property is CLOSED to camping. Individuals may not reside in any manner on this properties between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.

Consistent with the Governor’s Regional Stay Home Order updated December 6, 2020, ALL camping activities on Fish and Wildlife lands are suspended once a Region, as defined in the Order, reaches the 15% ICU bed capacity as directed in the Order. Camping will remain suspended for a minimum of three weeks.”

Here are my answers to your questions;

Do we have to vacate the campground? If yes, by when?

As of now no, they do not have to vacate unless I’m given that direction from higher above.

If we don’t have to vacate, can we leave our trailers until further notice & access them for our hunting supplies?

Yes

Will the non-reservation drawing cut-off time still be 10:30pm or is that being moved up to 9:00pm?

Sweat line cut offs are at 10 but we will also include morning walk ons at 3am.

Will the campground restrooms be open for use?

Yes

Hope this helps and thank you for your cooperation during this unprecedented time.

Word is some people complained about how Wister leadership was handling the closure as a result bosses in Sacremento forced the removal of all personal property from the campground. Email replies to the follow up notice to evacuate specifically named some people. Dont know what's true and what's not. All I know... we went from keeping our stuff in our camping spots just no camping 21:00 to 03:00 to now having to remove everything. If people did complain... screw them.
