What say the "experts".. yellow bill..white on both sides of black like a mallard.. really orange feet.. green/teal instead of blue/purple...shot a hen mallard just to compare..

It's a drake that identifies himself as a female.

With a yellow bill?
Yep. Do some research. Lots of evidence out there that old hen mallards take on certain characteristics of Drake’s when their female hormones wane. Kinda like how old ladies start to grow facial hair

Never seen one with a yellow bill or green in the wing for that matter.. saw a few old hems with green in the head but they always had nearly black bills. But then again We don't shoot many hens.. smoked this one because we new it was really dark..first glance was black duck but I knew it wasn't when I saw the white. I was thinking some type of hybrid. Considering the 5 people in the blind that day shoot over 400 mallards a year and none have ever saw one like this it seemed pretty rare.

There was a pretty cool article in the most recent CWA magazine about Mexican ducks. I’d love to shoot one
