Ken and I decided to make a day two day trip around So Cal for predators. I just received my new custom built 6mmx47 rifle with a Nightforce 3.5-15x50 scope. I am really impressed with the combination and the caliber (as Heath certainly knows) works very well for predators. We ended up with four coyotes and two cats. We have been passing on cats for a while and even on this trip decided to pass but I couldn't resist the two I took. Sadly one of the coyotes Ken killed was really full of mange. We also saw a coyote standing by the road that didn't have a single hair on it and was almost totally black. I shot two coyotes that had busted us and were running with the new scope, the reticle is the NP2-DD and has a floating center dot with two tapered horizontal lines that don't come all the way to the dot and one lower vertical tapered line that also doesn't touch the dot. This to me is the perfect reticle for predators (or other game for that matter). It is very fast and much easier on running animals. Here are a few pics.

Mike, I like the black spots on that Tom. Looks like he's pushing 35lbs, I think he'd look nice mounted or made into a rug.

It looks a lot like the one I got in D-14

That's one benefit of not being very tall. I make the animals I kill look huge :2:. He was only about 20lbs but nicely spotted. That rug looks awesome did you do it yourself?

Nice haul! Glad to hear you like that 6 x 47. Jeph shot a 25 pound cat with his 6 x 47 this weekend using a 65 grain V-max on a broadside shot at 35 yards. We both figured it would be ruined when he walked out to recover it but we were both surprised to see there wasn't an exit hole.

I had it done at "The Trophy Room" in Corona.

Great going Mike! :thumbs-up-ani:

I'm stowing away all of my w/f gear and focusing in on the fur, from here on out.

Thanks for the info Steve.

SBF, tell Jeph congrats for me. I got one of the cats at about 100 yards or so and he other at 30 yards. I was using the 60 grn HP from Sierra in my 6x47 and had the same results as Jeph. I am impressed so far. The scope is something I would highly recommend for predators. I shot two on the run and I am nothing to write home about as far as rifle shooting goes. This reticle is in my opinion the best thing going for predators.

Jason good luck, glad to hear you are going after 'em. I am going to the club to clean out my gear for the last time, selling the trailer and then focusing on this predator addiction.
