Turkey Scouting?

Got up the mountains before flydown and set up in my usual turkey blind. What I saw were nice bucks and not a single turkey...... :lol:

These boys were still with a lot of does. In fact, the bigger 2x3 was still chasing them. He also whacked a spike that got too close........ :2zho0zs_th:

In a few weeks he wont have any antlers to whack that spike with! The bucks look slender and worn down from the rut too. Maybe one of the yearling does cycled into estrus?

Very cool pictures!
I know there are a lot of deer in the woods and a lot of them look alike but two of the bucks you got pictures of just look too familiar! If not, oh well consider it added porn!!! Here are a couple of shots from last year (2009 season). The 1st 2 are the big fork and the last 3 are what look like the 3X3 you got pictures of.

Are those San Diego bucks?..............Here's a couple of different big forkys from the same general area (during the season)....Maybe they all had the same daddy....... :smiley-cool-shades-down:


Big forkys are very common in D-16.............................

Not only are they San Diego bucks, I really think we have pictures of the same bucks! I have spent more valuable hunting time than I care to admit watching and filming deer in that same little meadow with the fence going through it (as in your second picture). The other bucks are within a few miles of that but off of the paved road. Too bad most of that area is private!

Maybe.........That meadow isn't little though (200 yds wide, 1/2 mile long).........I do know that 5 strand fences like that one are not very common in SD........................... :unsure:

If you look at all these bucks closely, they all have slightly different antlers.

You're probably right. I don't know about the 1/2 mile long, but I do know the meadow. You would be amazed at some of the bucks I have seen by the watering trough that is under the trees on the right side of it.

I've seen tons of deer this spring.......All leatherheads. Some could be bucks, since all have dropped their antlers................ :smiley-thumbs-up-aqua:

Nice pics Steve, on sunday I saw a nice tall forkie across the MCC gate on private property near Mesa Grande. I was amazed the buck still had head gear attached. Is this normal? I have never seen a buck with head gear this late in March before.

I've seen them with antlers in March, never April.
