Has anybody tried one of these?? Looks like a nice hole punching head? They seem California legal but I might be wrong?

I like penitration. That said they look like a gimmick to me. That and I doubt Hatchet has one of those in his junk drawer!

I have a buddy who shot a nice boar with one. Good hit, but not a pass thru. Followed good blood for 50-60 yards. Then found the arrow. It had fallen back out. All the "blades" had been broken off and just the ferrule remained. Blood petered out and never found the hog. My question is why, why would you risk a shot on an animal with a gimicky head when so many broadheads with proven designs are readily available?

I just wanted to check with the masses as I am new to archery plan to hunt an AO tag next season. I am trying to decided which broad head to invest in..... As a rifle hunter it's hard for me to understand how a small blade can put such a hardy animal down... Obviously with a well placed shot from most any weapon you can put an animal down but I'm just trying find something to help grow my confidence. Thanks and any recommendations would help.

Everyone has their own opinions on what is best, based mostly on what has and hasn't worked for them or people they know. Like SD said, go with a tried and true broad head to start with. Muzzy is a solid choice.

thanks guys... I guess im just stubborn.... You could show me 1000 one shot drop archery shots but its just going to be tough for me to buy in to a flying razor blade until i put the hammer on a nice deer..... Im confident in my skills and shot placement but not confident in the terminal ballistics and hemorrhaging the broad heads can deliver i guess :smiley-ziplip:

I'm sure most would agree its accuracy not the size of broad head and a lung, heart, artery hit is very lethal. 100 yards or less. Remember arrows have been killing for a long time.

Muzzy or VPA would be my choices. Keep it simple when starting out. Rage has a huge following but if you are already questioning whether a broadhead can kill, I wouldn't go with anything but a solid fixed head.

Muzzy is easier since you just replace dull blades, but I get some satisfaction from hand sharpening VPA, and nothing can take a direct hit to a rock like a VPA in my opinion, and you will miss...

Good luck, post questions and the group here will answer up. Some of the most successful bowhunters in the country frequent these boards.

curved metal doesn't seem like a smart thing to me, but I have no experience shooting them. they are CA legal.

I have killed a handful of things with slick tricks. they are proven. I can say that a Wac-em fly's better then a slick, but no critters have died at my hands by them as of yet.

Totally forgot about Slicktricks, they are a solid head as well. Any fixed head that has been in business a while would be a good bet.

It's Ford vs. Chevy in most cases after that.
