So anyway, I had to make a rocket-run to Tehachapi today, and when I was driving out of town on the 58, I saw a heard of pronghorn grazing with cattle on the south side of the road. Wild or domestic?

There's some in Carrizo, but Tehachapi is news to me. NE California is the only other place I know of. They used to be all over - all the way down through the IE and into Mexico.

Jeff,

I saw one on the Tejon Ranch a few years back and Barbara said there's a few around that area.... I would say wild.

I saw a herd South of Hollister off the 25.
They're wild not domestic.
There was a hunt in Carrizo but that was stopped. I've seen them there.

Yea, Tejon's so big there are probably sections of the ranch that come down to the 58. Last time I hunted Tejon I saw a small herd of them.

These were to the east of town, and off of Tejon Ranch as best I could tell.

I was goin through there about 6 years ago and glanced to the south and swore I saw one out in that field. Convinced myself that I was seein things.

I stopped in Gorman one year and saw some thing in a group trekin up the hill. Thought they were deer.
Put the glasses on them and it turns out they were Speed Goats.

I think Tejon goes all the way to 58, at least they have one of their large signs at 233/58. I have also seen antelope near the intersection of 41 & 46 (Cholame). I thought the fumes from the engine oil leak on my old Nova were getting to me.

Marty, I use to see that group of antelope off the 41 all the time when we were headed to the coast. I haven't seen any out there in a few years though.

I used to see a herd off the 41. And around Soda Lake. I think one of the best Bucks I ever saw was up around Likely.
Even if I had the dough I wouldn't hunt them on Tejon. Their prices for Big Game are too rich for my blood.

Haven't gotten to see any pronghorn, but almost hit a nice elk last year... jumped right out in front of us...

They hunt them on Tejon... I would assume it would be somewhere in that flat area, i have no clue though.

:15: $4000 for a CA pronghorn? :15: I guess some people just have soo much $ they just dont know what to do with it. :15:

I'm going to checkout how many B&C antelopes have been taken in that county.... I'm guessing its not a lot....

I was in route to Tejon about 5 years ago. Between Mojave and Lancaster, about 4 miles north of the Gorman turn-off was a lone Buck Antelope about 50 yds off of the highway. Most people that I told about it didn't believe me, but it was what it was....hronk.

That's a lot of cash to pay to shoot a damn thunder chicken!! I saw about $20,000 worth of them running across the highway the other day.
