"Drew" a 0 point unit in Colorado and intended to fill freezer. Told everyone about realistic expectations and to kill whatever they want, but, this is still Colorado and there is always a chance at a fatty.

My bro, meat hunter extraordinaire lights this guy up 1 hour into the season, about 2.5 miles in Wilderness.

Any guesses in rough score? Buck if his lifetime. I was happy as hell for him.

We invited a new guy who has always wanted to hunt Colorado, he's 66 and I got him on a fat forky (you're welcome Hatchet) and the dude was so appreciative. All five of us filled our tags and enjoyed a no pressure hunt.

Here you go Hatchet. Not quite a throat patch, but base of neck on a frontal shot. He was over the moon.

13" spike too! Second animal down and if I remember correctly, I gave my son the same order as last year when he dumped his 4x2, "Son, kill that buck."

Dude..I'm serious..that's a slob of a spike!! I like the states that allow you to fill your tag with your choice!! Nice work!

Sounds like not only a productive trip but a family/friend hunting adventure! Fantastic.

It absolutely was. This hunt ended up best case scenario, but we worked hard to fill the tags, spike or otherwise.

Doesn't look like you needed any intel help.

We clawed and scratched. The monster was the only buck seen on the opener and we had very little competition, which didn't bode well. One thing I learned about Colorado, where there are lots of hunters, there is usually lots of deer, so I was worried. It proved accurate.

Ultimately, the gamey's intel was spot on in terms of movement. Also, a bighorn was being validated as we spoke with the gamey at the local office, which was pretty cool.
