Show of hands... How many TOFers are coming to the DWU banquet tonight. How many of you are going to support the only organization that is dedicated to creating and maintaining PUBLIC hunting opportunities in the Imperial Valley. The raffle items and silent auction items are better than ever this year. Kid friendly event so bring the whole family. So....OK put them up, who's coming?

Desert Wildlife Unlimited.

The Imperial Valley is where the famous Wister is, way down here in the bottom of California.
DWU grows all of the dove fields, raises and releases hundreds and hundreds of pheasants on public ground. The mallard program is a partnership with schools all over the valley. This year 29 6th grade classes are hatching and raising mallards that are all released into the wild. The club started its work by installing and maintain permanent water sources in the desert that all of the critters out there use. All by volunteers with funds that are raised and begged wherever they can be found. Check out the website and Facebook page.

Well. Its all over now. You guys all missed a great event. Kind of sad so many are willing to wake up at midnight to stand in the sweat line and can't come support such a great organization.

The sweat isn't really a line. You just put your name on a card at 7PM and go to bed.

Well I will have to admit my mistake. After hearing stories about the sweat line that was how I had it envisioned. Just a little disappointed with the participation. THANK YOU to all who did send support. It all goes straight back into the programs.

I left Riverside at 1:30pm yesterday, got home a little after 10pm last night.
Did some in town shopping and sightseeing (ie euro scouting)
My wife and dad both won general items, and I purchased the big horn sheep photo at silent auction.
The gun gods were not good to me, but I talked to some of the locals I don't see every year.
And I saw some of this years D12 harvest pics....
Bought another Leon book as well and talked to Leon.
Turn out seemed sub par to previous years.
I came home about $500 lighter than when I left.....
You're welcome!
I'll be back next year, good food and great people to spend the evening with!
