Been shooting rabbits with my .22 Henry. Yesterday, came across a huge rabbit. I swear I put 3 bullets in that thing but it ran off and I lost it in a hole about 10 yards uphill. Spent an hour trying to recover it but to no avail.

Is this common amongst you rabbit hunters? I feel horrible. Killed for nothing.

Never had that happen with bunnies. Now squirrels. Called in air strikes on them and they got away

If you can't cleanly kill EVERY time you shoot you really shouldn't be hunting at all.

So you've never lost an animal or bird ?

I don't know what's worse, your shooting skills or your ho-hum attitude toward a fine game animal.

Ho-hum attitude?......I don't think so.......And I don't think anyone takes losing a game animal lightly, but to say you shouldn't hunt, if you may lose an animal is ludicrous......There's some damn great bow hunters on this site and I bet almost everyone of them has lost some game at one time or another.....You may want to reconsider such a broad brushed statement...... :smiley_doh_ani:

I think statute of limitations is over, so I will share. we used to shoot the jack rabbits through the ears so we would have plenty for seed.
