My wife and I ventured to Kansas to chase whitetails with our bows earlier this month. We stayed with some good friends we know through Pope and Young and they were gracious enough to turn us on to some good public and private lands. Four days into the hunt, my wife arrowed her first ever whitetail while sitting on the ground. I grunted him into to 35 yards......one arrow through his heart did the trick! She was PUMPED to say the least.

I chose to spot and stalk some whitetails in the open prairie land for the remainder of the week. On our last day there, I snuck in on a giant 155" class 10 point at 19 yards.....but had no shot as he stood for 20 minutes with a hot doe at 19 yards! Frustrating. But after she ran away from him and took him with her an 8-point stood up 40 yards away. I had one small opening and made a good shot.....he only went 40 yards! Not a big one, but a good last afternoon buck. Whitetail meat is phenomenal......MUCH better than mule deer. We have plenty of it now. I'm really loving retirement! :)

Fantastic! Congrats to you and your wife.

I agree. Kansas whitetail is the best tasting deer I have ever eaten.

Nice team work. Those will fill the freezer and make for some good eating. I have never had Kansas whitetail but I know Wis. white tail is outstanding.

Ha....thanks, guys. The crusher hat is still in action and my signature hat! It was wet from the hunt the day before and drying....had to use the back-up version.

Very Nice!! Gonna have to cross the state line one day and try KS public land.

On the subject of taste, my daughter shot an alfalfa muley that tasted every bit as good as my buddies WT. I think it just depends on groceries.

Without the boonie, I had to recheck which bowhunter was actually doin' the posting. Oh yeah, nice looking deer.
