Asked my little brother who's caught some pretty nice channel cats, he said they use night crawlers.

Chicken liver on a slider has been a winner for me for years.

This would be my first choice as well. I dont know crap about catching catfish, but I know monsters are caught on bluegills.

If you are fishing for flatheads, nicapopolis is dead on, bluegills or, and small pan fish is the answer. But for channel cats we use carp guts. I have caught them on nightcrawlers, trout bait, dough balls, even caught a few on Minnie jigs while fishing for Crappie.
