I've never seen a mule deer run that way. Is that normal? I'm used to seeing either a trot or a "stot", that bouncing gait that looks like a hop.

I had a similiar sized buck here in D-16 do the same thing several years ago. On the last fence, he caught a hoof and went end over end. Got up and trotted off the opposite direction............ :2:

ps........Maybe it was a little smaller than that one...... :lol:

That reminded me of a dog running down the driveway following his owner. As soon as the buck got to the house you know he was soo happy to see his owner, wagging his tail, and licking everything in site.

Oh wait... just dogs do that...
