I hate tents!!!!!

I like a good nights sleep........this is what I use it goes up in a second and packed in 5 seconds. No poles no stakes but the rain fly needs one pole great for three seasons but I have been snowed on in this tent with no issues

1 or 2-man tent for me depending on the scenario (weather mainly). It's worth a few ounces in my opinion, hard to cook in the rain if all you have is a bivy. If you add a tarp you're likely carrying more weight than my tent with a generous vestibule.

I have two one man tents. A sierra designs and a big angnes.......I just rarely carry them.

I hunt mostly California, what the hell is weather and/ or rain?

My advanced bivy is too big for me, I may offload it for a smaller one here soon. It zips up to keep bugs out.

I'm thinking great for a spike camp where it takes a few days to circle the mountain........I'm just wondering how comfy and how warm rain fly?

A hammock seems like a pain in the ass...dunno though. I have a hard enough time getting good sleep on flat ground.

Yeah I have pictures from my UT hunts & I'll get some new ones up. What's great they are in military surplus now at like $30

I looked at a few hammocks and the new designs you can sleep on your side.......but still have not slipped into one. I like the idea and will try it next year in the back country. I really like the idea of glassing and blogging from it!

A guy in Idaho that I sold a pup to uses one for Elk hunting and he loves it BUT after 5-10 days in the hammock it's hard to go back to a flat bed according to him.

Half of the time I'm hunting in the desert with little to no trees, and half the time in the in the high country I camp as high as I can get, usually in rocky areas and above tree line. I'm just now getting into road hunting though, it's been very effective this year. I may look into a hammock for mid day naps!

MJ- do you know of a specific place (website or store location) I can pick it up for $30? Even at $115 on that website I like the way it looks...but for $30 I would pick it up real fast.

Tent alone is 1.6 w/fly & pole 3.2.......I don't bring stakes or the carry case I tie off or make some quick stakes

The wife bought a really nice hammock which is AMAZING to lay in.

That said we had to stop short of where I wanted to scout because we needed trees for the thing.

She said sleeping in it was great although it was windy and the rain fly made noise which kept her up some.

I on the other hand slept great in my Bivy on the ground.

2 Man Kelty Backpacking Tent. Weighs hardly anything and can be put up and taken down pretty fast. Got dumped on (Snow) a few years back in the Desolation Wilderness and it held up like a champ. I'm just not a Bivy guy.....
