So Dylan Downplays how epic he is and he truly makes it easy to make things happen. The thing I like most about the entire time we have hunted together anytime one of us says, "Hey why don't we..." the other person says lets do it before the sentence is over. We think outside the box, we don't care what people think, and we will try anything twice. We mesh, we met because of TOF and now he's like family. What Dylan didn't say about that day I said Screw it and said lets go hunt free roam, he came up here for a 6 day trip and the first Wed we didn't get on the refuge until 1:30 pm and got one opportunity. That Thurs and Fri we hunted Rice and figured that out. That Saturday we didn't get on the refuge until 2 pm. That Sunday we drew #1 in lotto and both ressies had shown up, so we checked 2 more refuges before going to a third and I was sick of it and finally I said "Dylan will you let me put you in a tub and take you into free roam to my Mallard Island?" He said Ya as long as you don't let me drown. Instead of going home and being depressed we couldn't do something we marched in and figured it out. He was so freaked out the whole way there but he didn't give in. We made it to the island built his blind and he killed a back peddling mallard at 15 yards which checked off all his goals for the year. Anything after that was gravy but the fact that we provided he can hunt anywhere this year was the best medicine or therapy the kid could have ever gotten.

Mid season I told him ill get him in waders this year and he laughed at me... His last day up here for extended goose season I got him in waders. Takes balls for him to trust me pushing his ass into the marsh and load him up in a plastic tub. So many guys make hunting so complicated I've learned to keep it simple and do my best to scout and hide. Hiding a big ole wheel chair is not easy, haha but we quickly figured out what to do and how. We use a piece of plywood under him, at first we did it on a levy and made a blind around him, then we went as far as to hunt him out of Tules in a straight up Marsh.

His goal this year was to kill 1 Mallard and 5 Geese. He killed 5 geese the second time we hunted geese this year in one day. The day we finally put a pile together when he killed that band, that made my season. The day we hunted him out of a Tule Patch it was the last frontier in terms of the things he thought he wouldn't be doing soon. I hunted knelt behind him and turned his wheelchair so he could shoot more angles. We killed 17 snows in 1 power hour in the afternoon and Dylan was on fire. He shoots better now than he ever did. In the first season we proved theres nothing he can't do which gives us so much to look forward to.
Anyhow, definitely thank you guys for your thoughts and prayers and donations, it goes a long way. I have more pictures and more to say but you guys get the point. Don't take shyt for granted and never complain, most of us have nothing to complain about. Looking forward to Trying to put a Canada trip together and killing it up there with you brother!!
