Went out and had some fun racing out and touching Mother Nature. The question was asked what a 223 would do compared to a 17. Well since it was asked I had to check it out. These were shot with a 64 grain jacketed soft point. I loaded up some 55 grain ballistic tips to see what they will do. These shots were from 120 to 180 yards. After a while I got tired of walking down to see what they looked like. I will download the photos when I get home. Stupid phone

Andy,

Looks like there's going to be some happy, coyotes, ravens, eagles, & bobcats.............Me & Phil were at Tino Upper this morning. Phil went back and sounded like he was putting the .17 Mach IV to them.

I do have some copper loaded for the 25-06 and might send one or two of them downrange.  Gotta see if the have the same POI as the new lead bullets.  Was happy that the 64 gr and 55 gr ballistic tips have the same POI, 1.25 inches over at 100 yards.  That puts them dead on at 200.  We shall see on Sunday.  Gonna try and make it to the Wounded Warrior Archer thing on Pendleton tomorrow and then up to OC for the SCI dinner.  The local Gun Store owner says it should be pretty good, looks like they got some neat shat in the General Raffle

The hard part of using the 25-06 on the Ground Grizzlies is finding the dang things afterwards.  I found one out of the three that I shot.  It was 16 foot back from where it had been shot.  He was low crawling and I shot him in the belly, it wasn't a heart shot, but his heart and the rest of his innards were no where to be found.
