I was finally able to seal the deal on a California black bear. I've had my opportunities over the years but for one reason or another it just never worked out. On Monday my luck finally changed.

I got off work early so my dad and I headed up the mountain in Fresno county. We headed to an area that had a big fire go through a few years ago. We hit a gate that was locked on a old over grown forest road so we started walking. We made it about 2 miles back when I heard some commotion downhill from us. I listened for a bit and it sounded like 2 bears were fighting from what I could tell. I heard branches breaking and one of the bears was bawling. After a bit I could hear that something was running up the hil towards me, and fast! I stayed put and before I knew it there was a bear standing with its front paws on a stump about 15 yards below me. I put my crosshairs on its chest and let her have it. She folded and I had my first black bear down. It was a really special moment having my dad there with me. He helped with the field dressing and the pack out. We were back to the truck before dark and had a couple cold ones waiting for us for the celebration. It was a great hunt that won't soon be forgotten.

Awesome. I like the cold ones part. I always seem to forget to throw those in the truck.

By my count, your lucky shirt had at least 4 holes in it when you got that bear. My guess is that you'll still be wearing it when it's in mere shreds on your back. :)

Story sounds awesome man! I know how that adrenalin feels when you hear those "BIG" noises that you know has to be them! And how after hearing that first loud "CRACK!" you instantaneously... without thinking about it get your rifle into both hands at the ready!
