Quick question; I usually buy a couple cases of shells from Frank (sportsman catering). Is there a new law how many cases I can buy? Usually stock the kids up for the season...

No limit that I am aware of. My FFL recently told me that he could do the FTF transfer if I wanted to order in a pallet shipped to him.

The only thing I see we've lost is getting the great deals from Roger's and others.....Although, Frank's prices have always been fair, especially on Kent's.

Roger's still has some great deals, and is one of the simplest to deal with under the current regs. All you need is an FFL on this end who is willing to receive the shipment and do the FTF transfer. No paperwork required for the transfer (this year), but the FFLs are supposed to collect sales tax on the price of the ammo they transfer to you, so the deals are not as good as they used to be.

What we have really lost (other than a big chunk of our 2A rights) is the ability to order small lots of odd ammo that you can't find locally. One FFL told me he won't do transfers, but he can order whatever I want. I didn't argue with him, but he simply cannot get the oddball stuff that I sometimes shoot, because some is discontinued and only available from private parties.

We’ve lost more than online purchase of ammo. In 2019, over the counter ammo purchases will require a background check. I think there’s also a fee in the amount of $25 or so to purchase ammo. I’m too lazy to look up the law. Can someone give specifics?

My recollection is that next year we will have to go through a background check and fingerprinting and pay a fee to obtain an "ammo purchase license" of some kind. License will be good for four years if my memory is correct. I don't think the ammo purchase license will allow us to bring in ammo from out of state, nor to take direct delivery of online ammo purchases. Logic would dictate that if one has an ammo purchase license issued by the DOJ, then one should just be able to buy ammo wherever one chooses. Unfortunately, logic seems to be in extremely short supply in Sacramento. Bunch of criminal idiots.

Proposition 63 included a provision that would have required ammunition buyers to pay the state up to $50 for a four-year permit to buy ammunition. But the law Brown signed has a system where you pay a $1 background check fee at the point of purchase. Its not clear which will prevail at this point, people think the POS version since its less hassle, but that skank Gavin Newsom was behind Prop 63 and he is likely going to be the next governor, so ....
