Looking for a quality pair of binos. Not looking to spend $400 but I know you get what pay for. Thoughts fellow outdoorsmen? I wont be standing on the roof of a vehicle to use em but I need a quality pair! This may be in the wrong forum so feel free to move my post accordingly.

For what will you be using it?

$400 won't buy quality.

It won't buy Swarovski, but it will buy quality if you shop smart. When I was looking about three years ago for a decent pair to keep in the truck, I bought Minox BLs, made in Germany. There is also a version of the BL that is assembled in China with German components, sells at a lower price. Guy I hunted with was carrying Swarovskis, and he was impressed with the Minox.

Nikon, had great service from their cameras and binos. The pair I now have were in the $100 range, flawless despite the rough handling. There customer service on camera repairs is unmatched!

I have Nikon monarchs 10x42 and like them a lot.
I have Leica's (Geovids) that are totally awesome but extremely expensive.
I also have the Nikon monarchs and for the price ($400 ish) they are fantastic.
They are my go to's when I duck hunt.

I believe Cabelas has some Vortex 10x42's on sale for $129 or $159, can't remember off the top of my head.

Diamondbacks are $119 at Optics Planet. Not sure how good they are but probably work fine for glassing birds in ponds and fields.
