I asked him about that one as I was curious. They call it the "Captain Morgan" I said how do you stay on the bike if you are not holding on to the bars and you are pushing the front end down with your foot?

He explained that as he comes off the ramp he upshifts into third in mid air and keeps his left foot under the shifter to keep the bike from falling away from him.

Yep, hanging on by a toe.

Does he do this competitively, or is he working towards that stage?

He competes and does demonstrations/shows and is actively seeking sponsorships all while being a full time college student at 19.

Yeah that Captain Morgan is bad ass. Riding in the areas he rides I am sure he comes across some of the big name pros semi regularly. Sponsorship will come with the hardwork and dedication which he appears to have. Getting through college may be that hardest part.

His closest friends all have multiple X Games medals and he just spent the summer living with and training with Javier Villegas from Chile who is ranked third in the world in FMX.

Javier sold him one of his Honda CRF 450R's.

He rides with the best of the best which is both exciting and scary at the same time as they are constantly pushing him to progress outside of his comfort zone.

I know what you mean Steve and I have similar feelings but these guys are trying to instill confidence, motivation and a belief in his abilities while his brain is going into to protective mode telling him this is dangerous. The tricky part is convincing the brain that you know what you are doing and just committing with zero hesitation and sometimes that means going outside of your comfort zone in order to progress.
