    Man, I LOVE Arizona

......and being retired! I drew an archery antelope tag and a deer tag. Lots of jerky this year!

    Last Day AZ Bull

Here's my 2019 AZ bull I arrowed this morning in the rain.....the last day of the archery season. This was the toughest AZ elk hunt I've ever been on.....feel blessed and lucky to have this bull raking a tree at 36 yards.

    Our Kansas Trip (pics)

My wife and I ventured to Kansas to chase whitetails with our bows earlier this month. We stayed with some good friends we know through Pope and Young and they were gracious enough to turn us on to some good public and private lands. Four days into the hunt, my wife arrowed her first ever...

    AZ Critters

Saw some critters yesterday morning up here in the White Mountains.......some the first I've ever seen; the Mexican Gray Wolf! Three of them actually, all collared. Saw some elk too, but the wolves were the highlight.

    CBH Measuring Class

    This Sunday at Riverside Archery:

    D-12 Anyone?

Taken last weekend........easy chip shot, if I had a tag!

    Archery Buck Down (pic)

This will most likely be my last Pacific Hybrid buck from D-11 / A-31, as I have a Bass Hill archery tag for next month and I'm retiring to Arizona by next summer. I've literally spent a lifetime bowhunting Hybrids, so it was fitting to arrow a decent one on my final year. Not a giant, but it...

    Wife's First Deer (pics)

To say she was excited would be an understatement. I'm damn proud of her. She's been away from archery for over 23 years (since kids were born). Now that the kids are all grown up, she's back in business. Awesome stalk to within 40 yards of his bedded does.......when the buck got up to check...

    2016 UT Mule Deer (pics)

Still up here in the Book Cliffs.......story when I get home. But for those that already know, I was DUE for some good luck after the trip up here and the scouting time. Arrowed this 24" wide buck this morning.

    CA Turkey Double

With all the kids grown, my wife (Anne) decided she wants to get back into archery......and bowhunting. Looks like Fred isn't my only hunting partner now. :) We took a long ride to Northern California to hunt with some good friends who know turkeys very well. After a few 'practice' shots at...

    I Received This E-mail

I was extremely appreciative and honored after receiving this e-mail from the P&Y Club. This was a lifelong goal of mine after bending strings for almost 40 years. I've met some of the most incredible people in this organization, which made the numerous of hours of my donated time seem like...

    2014 Spring Gobbler (pics)

Got back last night from the northern part of the Golden State hunting turkeys with two buddies from the area. Hunting was a lot more difficult this year, but plenty of gobblers to be seen. On Saturday, on the way back towards the truck, I spotted this gobbler making his way towards us on a...

Annual AZ Archery Deer Hunt (pics)

Well, my annual Arizona hunting trip is over for 2014. What a trip! Since I had a 2013 deer tag still in my pocket, I went over early (December 27th) to try and find something early. I figured I wouldn’t be too picky with my first tag. I arrived at camp at 1:30 in the afternoon and found...

    CA Mule Deer (pics)

Took the wife and kids up camping over the long Thanksgiving weekend up to the Eastern Sierras to enjoy the brisk outdoors and photograph some deer. I was a bit disappointed in the overall deer numbers and the quality of the bucks seen this year......especially with the amount of snow present...

    Just Another Yote

Since the family and I went to my buddy's wedding last night, I got home too late to get up at 3:00 am and chase small hybrid deer. Besides, I haven't seen anything I'd really like to punch my second tag on. Instead, I thought I'd get up just before daybreak and call some predators near my...

    I'm Done!

Well, today I finally achieved a goal......I finished my last college class tonight and will finally receive my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social and Criminal Justice.  I've had my AA since I started my law enforcement career over 25 years ago.  In 2011, I decided it was time to complete my...

    Morning of Calling (pics)

Since I had a final exam to take this afternoon, I had just a few hours to drive a few miles from my desert home and try some predator calling. On my second stand location, this dog came in to 12 yards! One arrow dropped him where he stood. If you look closely, you can see my call under the...

    CA "monkey" off my back

Well, I finally got the "monkey" off my back. I've been trying to arrow a record book turkey for a few years now, as it's the only specie I needed to be eligible for the Whitney Hill Award from CBH. After getting a gracious invite from two bowhunting buddies (Chris and Joe) from the Northern...
