    Just a quick question...

Yep, they grow up as fast as we grow older. Congrats on his owning a business. Computers and the virtual world have really changed the way we live, work, shop, interact with friends and family….the need to actually go out has diminished. It’s all at our fingertips! Encourage him to get out and...

    Just a quick question...

Hey there Steve. I kinda stumbled on TOF again a while ago. Check in now and then. I lived in Running Springs for a couple years back in 2016. Visited Big Bear often, nice town. Retired recently and moved to Surprise AZ. Not missing Kalifornia…it’s not what it once was. Here is a pic from the...

    The Passing of a Legend

Just saw this as well. My son and I helped Leon many years ago build the original pheasant pens behind Gibson’s. His wife fed us all home made fried chicken. Went down to help out several other times over the years. My son really enjoyed helping to catch and release the Pheasant in the fields...

    Lost my hunting buddy...

Gunner was a purebred AKC German Shorthair Pointer. The solid liver is from the Greif blood line. He came from breeding's of Larry Lowell's dogs. I fostered him at 4 months of age from a guy who went thru a divorce and could not keep him. We hunted Quail, Dove, Pheasant, and Chukar. A few times...

    Lost my hunting buddy...

I lost Gunner last week, he was 13 years old. He had not been eating very well, was throwing up occasionally, and loosing weight. I noticed his abdomen seemed swollen and tight. Turns out he had a large mass inside, so I did my best to make his last days comfortable and comforting. He quit...

Vic was a longtime bird hunter and especially enjoyed chasing Chukar in the hills. I hunted with Vic in the past. One memorable hunt about 15 years ago was a 5...

Tom, LA County Sherrif wanted a 5 year commitment. He was willing to stay for 2, maybe 3 years but not 5. Said if he left early he would have to pay off all training costs to the tune of about $80,000. I let him know, maybe he can call you. Thx That's why he interviewed with CHP. Zach, Who...

    End of an Era

Just saw this Scott. Sorry for your loss. We sure become attached to them. My gunner is 13 1/2 and has really slowed down. His days too are limited. I went Pheasant hunting in Mexico a week ago and left Gunner at home. First time in 12 years I've hunted Phez without him and it just wasn't the...

    Boot treatment.

I switched a couple years ago from the Cabella guide series boots to Danners. Danner recommends Obenaufs. I brush and/or wash off the dirt after each outing, and treat them regularly.. No problem with the stitching or glue so far.... Only complaint is after walking dew covered alphalfa fields...

    Prayers Requested for Skyscaper

Met Dylan for the first time a couple weeks ago to sell him the shotgunshells I had. We had a good conversation about bird hunting and I'm sorry to read this. Hope your recovery goes well and you are healthy and strong soon.

Got away for a quick morning hunt before the storm hit. Found a couple small coveys and put 3 in the bag. Gunner located a long shot on a bird that buried it's self deep in the base of a bush, and all birds shot over a point...gotta love ur dog. The storm hit a couple hours after I got home...

    Pre-Thanksgiving day Chukar

Hunted a spot in the high desert that I I haven't been to in many years. Wasn't expecting much, but the forecast called for cool temps and a good breeze. Great day to hike the hills. Ol' Gunner gave it his all, and late in the hunt winded a small covey of about 10 Chukar hunkered 50 yards down...
