Anyone have recommendations on trying D16 for deer this year? I've not been having much luck in D14, but someone I know says he thinks he has heard good reports of deer down in 16, but no solid info. Any good leads I could get would be appreciated as I will have to make a choice real soon if I am going to try my luck up north again or check out some new territory down south.

The 12 is closed due to extreme fire danger and low doe survival rate.

Stick with 16... deer around every corner!!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Just one item of concern is what the CDFW zone description refers to as a mix of public and private land and the map of the zone really looks like there are all kinds of areas scattered through the forest service portion of it that may be private land. I am assuming that the USFS area is the only one you would be allowed to hunt without a permit or some other sort of permission. Do any of you know of a good source of info regarding boundaries of private land, or are most of these areas fairly clearly marked?

Otis,

Don't let these guys kid you.....D-12 sells out because it's so great.....D-16 still has 775 tags left because there's no deer.....I'm just sick because I didn't draw it.....Had to SETTLE for D-16..... :smiley-violin:
