It is not, very dissappointing... y14 should have been planted, watered and growing by Halloween at the latest. I watched the geese land in the dirt Sat morning than head to 114. It's now Mid-Nov and no green feed in the CZ.

The thing that really got me was T10, U10 and 115B were all planted with Millet instead of Rye or Wheat. Not sure the thought process behind that but atleast it's green right?

It's planted

If it is, it has yet to be watered unless it was turned on today.

I know people have gotten on Rick and staff for Y14 being planted late before. I understand that planting too early down there can kill the seed as it can be upper 90's first few weeks. But Y14 being dirt 2nd week in November? What's the excuse for that? The few geese they do still get will be gone for sure

There is a lot that goes into it!
It's not just disk, seed, water although I do agree that it's somewhat late based on when the birds showed.
Predicting is tough sometimes.

I agree rooster. I think the birds are earlier then normal but the field is behind schedule as well.

Pretty sure you knew the answer before you asked the question !! I love when others think they could do better; with less funds, and less manpower !!

Am I a little bummed that the field was just seeded, yes ! Preferably I would like it to be as green as the T's & U's are right now !! But IMHO Rick and especially his staff have done a great job these past few years !! Do I agree with everything that has been done since Rick took the helm, No !

But I try to keep in mind past practices by other managers of Wister !! I am sure some of you guys haven't been alive long enough to remember the blatant *#$* you that was handed down by previous managers. If you think Rick is doing a bad job; goes ask one of the guys who have hunted Wister over the past 40 - 60 years. I think you will walk away with a whole different view of the current staff !!!!
