Got nothing in the draw.  I sweat line all the time.  But, I have never sweat lined the opener.  How bad will it be?

My guess is that at least 70 will show for the reservations with maybe 60+ in the sweat line.  Am I close?

Do they put the people in the sweat line on the refill list if they don't get on in the morning?

What is the chance of going through all this an not getting on at all (even on a refill)?

Just curious.

60-70 would be my guess for reservations that show up. Sweatline groups will be 80+. Bar none its the worst day to sweat on.

Wister only issues 100 reservations (a good thing IMO). There are approximately 135 potential sites on Wister (maybe more) plus the 3 in the 114 closed zone until they get closed when the geese show up. Then there's another 20 between Hazard & Union. For the opener we'll be lucky to have 107 at Wister & 15 on Hazard. These include the disabled hunter sites.

Do the math. If you don't draw better than 40 or 50 on the sweatline, you wont get out for the start of LST. Most will get out at some point but it could be a long wait.

I suggest you stay home.

Both my girls have softball games...This will be my second year in a row i get to miss the opener. I'm thinking 90+ on the sweatline. I like Matt's advise....

Looks like it just might be quail hunting - 100% chance of getting a spot.

100 in the sweat line?  Seriously?

Why wouldn't you take that same thought process and apply it to ducks. You "freelance" for quail, why not for ducks.

In the 5 years prior to me moving to Colorado I hunted every duck opener. Only one of those was at a refuge.
