Dad wants a good spotting scope and is willing to get into the 4 figure range for the whole package.  Got a Vortex Razor HD 16-48 x65 on the hook.

 

A few of you have been complimentary of the Jim White tripod head.  Curious if this is still true, and what your preferences would be on a tripod from currently available offerings.  Gonna carry it on horse back and backpack. 

 

Remember, I'm gonna borrow this and someday inherit it. So, this is important!

Cant go wrong with a Jim White head....with that said if you can find one you might want to buy it, Jim just passed away and his stuff is going fast everywhere I see it
