Saw this at my local Costco for $50. Anybody use these to treat their water? I generally carry the tablets when I know there is running water but use a pump filter when filing up at springs & backcountry ponds (AKA A-zone mud puddles) to make the taste bearable.

My understanding is that when they work, they work well, but that low batteries or malfunctions leave you unprotected.

We just need to fit some goats in your front little courtyard area and train them to carry our crap!

Give me a bow, a topo and two weeks and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

Just like hunting spots posted online, stupidity is searchable forever.

There is one taking a bath in my sink right now....but will be about 10 years before I even make him carry his own crap on a backpacking trip.

I bought one to try it out. Just to back from a seven day trip scouting in the sierra's. I reverted back to iodine pills. I think a good pump is worth more then this pen.

Iodine!  It works and never runs out of battery and the filter doesn't clog.

if you get a glass bottle or jar you can leave it full of contaminated water in a very sunny spot and the sun will kill all of the bacteria if you put a black sheet behind it to absorb the most out of the sun. I'm not bulls#!ttin ya either
