So after finally finishing my knife to match my recurve I needed to make a sheath for it.

Knowing I had basically made a rib breaker with a fixed knife with a sharp grip, and the fact that I hate vertical hang fixed blades it was easy to decide to make a horizontal carry sheath.

I got the tooling leather from Big Jim's Bow company when I ordered a new set of arrows and spent a month or so occasionally chewing on the shapes and such.

Here she is. Natural veg-tanned 8-9ozs tooling leather dyed with black liquid rit dye, sewn with black artificial senew.

I learned a lot and am going to start dad's here in a day or so. I won't screw his up and cut it backwards so he can carry his on his right side...

Did you do the stiching by hand?? How thick is the leather that you used?...I started smothing my bone handle down and I have a blade on the way.

Opps, did I say you could shoot first... "Sorry Upper"

Ill just catch it in this coat and smack it with a hammer....

Can I get 13 beers to go Please...

That sucks when my brain automatically decodes ODP but STILL can't figure out what the hell upper is saying.......SCREWLOOSE

I drew the stitch line and cut the holes with the stitching needle in my portable drill, just eyeballing the spacing.

I did a "locking" stitch (two needles going in a kind of figure eight motion) but double lapped it and that made it look less clean and tight. The artificial sinew is just a bunch of strands of synthetic fibers and wasn't as "purty" as I would have liked.

I just drew it up in my head and then went for it. I am pretty happy with the design, maybe would like it a smidge more angled so the knife is somewhat angled down from handle to blade, but think it will work perfect.

Good luck with your knife, what blade did you order?
