In an effort to truly get an Idea of something's durability, I think knowing how hard someone is on gear.

I've Broken plenty of farm equipment, and hand tools, but in terms of hunting and outdoor gear:

3 Bow limbs (2 splinters, one failure)
Waistbelt buckle on a pack
Stripped a sight mounting hole on a bow
Separated the sole off a pair of Danner boots that were resoled by my local guy.
Broken 2 tripods
Broke one pair of Binos 2x First in saddle bag, and 2nd by luggage handlers. (replaced by MFG each time)
Wore out a leather rifle sling. (I was the 3rd generation to use it)
countless sunglasses
plain wore out numerous shoes and boots.

What are your Gear Casualities?

Ten camelbaks
Elite bow (shotty warranty to boot)
Meindl Ibex boot (twice)
Meindl Alaskan boot
Cabelas mountain hunter boot
Ripcord rest
Damn near my ankle
Many straps, buckles, and shoe laces
Cabelas Alaskan guide binos (great warranty)
Have knocked my bow off a number of times (pansy compounds that is)
I have broken my feet on almost very hunt until last year wearing heavy euro boots, no more for me...

My stuff is old and worn from use but I haven't had anything totally fail or break.
Maybe I'm just lucky.

Off the top of my head all I can think of is my two piece set of Simmons binoculars I still use to look out the kitchen window with.

I know there are more broken things around here, I just don't use them as much.

I surprised to see the boots getting worn out and broken down. I wouldn't expect it from such high-quality companies. Do you fellas get them re-soled then?

I sent mine back to Cabelas. A $200-$300 pair of boots that can't survive a season is a piece of gear I won't own any longer.

All of mine blew out the first hunt or so on them.

It would be easier to list things that have not broken... Or lost or had my kids destroy. Wait... Bullets... I've never broken a bullet!

I have a long list of things my dog has destroyed as well... Thousands of $ worth of stuff. That's what happens when you work 60hs a week and leave the kids at home with a puppy... GRRR!

Same here,I found out I was tightening them too much at the hinge, and the Ibex I have now are 10yrs old. The Lowas I'd had since the 70's..resoled 4 times.
