I'll take easy anyday... if I did all the work to make it easy. I shot my Tule elk 30 minutes after the sun came up on opening day. That was after I spent hundreds of hours and $$$ before opening day preparing to make it happen. I could have easily spent that money on a guided hunt and maybe had the same results... but it wouldn't be the same. Again, I'm not slamming guided hunts because I know that some hunts can't be done no other way. In the end... to each his own. Ed F Easy that happened after that much work invested, aint easy! But yeah, I'll take it that way too any day. It's funny, I sometimes feel conflicted on the subject. In some circumstances you may need a guide whether legally or just logistically. For me, I don't mind a guided hunt for some species that I can't really do properly on my own. But I personally could never hunt that way for the majority of my hunts. It's the work I treasure most. I consider the local does I have killed greater trophies than some of the critters on my wall because each one was a result of serious effort. that last part is what it's about and what most non hunters could never understand. Yes we like big horns, but that is only a small part of what it is we get out of a hunt. I have killed rabbits that meant as much or more to me than any buck. Not every hunt is magical, but they all start out with the possibility of such. -------------------- Give me a bow, a topo and two weeks and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

Don't bang on the guides and outfitters too hard.
There are some that really work hard to get you on the animal of choice. My last guided elk hunt really kicked my ass. 15 miles to base camp and then every day was a sun up to sunset hunt many miles away from base camp. 3 days into a 9 day hunt we got on them, and then the monkey was on my back to make the best shot I could at 9000 feet. Cold as hell. Foggy. And then it happened. Best shot I have ever made. Loaded up the horses and mules and walked back to base camp. Now that's hunting. I'd do it all over again. I've been to SCI dinners. What a bunch of pussies. Dollars and very big dollars make it real easy. I'm not for easy. I want to "earn" it. Tmoney -------------------- You can put lipstick on a pig. But it's still a pig.
